We at the Sackville Dental Centre would like to provide a friendly and caring atmosphere with the highest standards of today’s dental care while understanding each person as an individual and working together as a team.
Dentists
Dr. Michael Lo, DDS
Dr. Lo (or Dr. Mike, as many patients refer to him as) joined the team at Sackville Dental Centre in 2014, where he practices all aspects of general dentistry and strives to treat all his patients with optimal care, professionalism and compassion.
Dr. Mike obtained his undergraduate degrees in psychology and biology from McGill University and Dalhousie University. Having taken an interest in the science and craft of dentistry, he then continued on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Dalhousie University in 2012. He became a certified Invisalign provider in 2014 and earned his certification to provide oral and nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation in 2016. Dr. Mike continues to further his education by participating in courses and lectures, with a special interest in dental implants, endodontics (root canals), and cosmetic dentistry. Currently, he is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Nova Scotia Dental Association, the Halifax County Dental Society, and the Atlantic Canada Seattle Study Club.
Dr. Mike resides in his hometown Halifax with his wife and young sons. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing guitar, playing basketball (go Raptors!), golfing, traveling, watching movies, playing video games and listening to music.
Dr. Sara Moore, DDS
Dr. Sara was born and raised in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She graduated from UPEI with her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She then made her way to Halifax where she graduated top of her class in her final year of Dentistry at Dalhousie University in 2016. After graduating she practiced in Wolfville and Meteghan River, NS before joining Sackville Dental Centre.
She was fortunate to provide dental services on volunteer trips to Dominican Republic and Tanzania and to have been part of the Dental Public Health Program at Dalhousie where she got to travel to Nain, Labrador.
She grew up playing basketball and played for UPEI. At home, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son and daughter. She’s happy to be a part of the team at SDC and feels fortunate to work alongside dental assistant Emily. She’s committed to continued education and focuses on providing honest, quality care to patients of all ages.
Dental Hygienists
Brittany, Dental Hygienist
Brittany was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 2009 and the Dental Hygiene program at Dalhousie University in 2012. Brittany has been a part of Sackville Dental since January 2015. In her spare time she enjoys reading, yoga and spending time with her family. Brittany looks forward to meeting you and your smile.
Cailin, Dental Hygienist
Cailin grew up in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. She knew before graduating high school she had an interest in dentistry and decided to attend Dalhousie University for Dental Hygiene prerequisites straight afterwards. Cailin graduated in 2012 and has worked at various offices around the HRM before discovering her “dental family” at Sackville Dental Centre two years ago. She enjoys reading, yoga and spending time in the sunshine. Her attention to detail and gentle touch is sure to have you smiling!
Lindsay, Dental Hygienist
Lindsay was born and raised in Dartmouth. She has a passion for healthcare and her family and friends. A Graduate of both Mount St. Vincent and Dalhousie with degrees in Psychology and Nursing, Lindsay graduated from dental hygiene in 2015. She has worked at several dental clinics in HRM until finding her home with SDC in 2020. While not working Lindsay enjoys volunteering for the Halifax cat rescue society, music, and sweets. Lindsay currently lives in Dartmouth with her husband, cats, and new baby girl.
Jeff, Dental Hygienist
Jeff was born and raised in Northern Newfoundland and attended Memorial University before switching to Dalhousie for Dental Hygiene in 2013. He graduated in 2015 (along with our very own Erica & Lindsay) with his Diploma in Dental Hygiene and started working at Sackville Dental Centre in November 2021. When not working, He enjoys spending time with his fiancé and their dog Tucker. He’s excited to join the family here at SDC!
Dental Assistants
Emily, Dental Assistant
Emily is originally from Cape Breton and graduated from the NSCC Dental Assisting program in 2019. She is the proud recipient of the Award of Recognition for Preclinical Skills. Emily always has a smile on and is excited to meet you!
Claire, Dental Assistant
Claire grew up in Bridgewater and moved to Halifax in 2020. She graduated from dental assisting at NSCC in 2021. Claire enjoys curling and playing guitar in her spare time. She also loves to travel, and never leaves home without her toothbrush.
Cindy, Dental Assistant
Cindy graduated from Dental Assisting in 1987 and is Dr. Lo’s assistant. She is fortunate to have had the unique experiences to work in a Maxillofacial prosthodontic cancer clinic, a dental office in a maximum-security jail, and helped start the Low Cost Dental Clinic at Camosun College on Vancouver Island. When she’s not working, she’s happy to be out in the fresh air.
Dental Receptionists
Bev, Admin
Bev was born and raised in Dartmouth, NS. She graduated dental assisting from NSIT in 1982 and later in her career moved to an administrator role. She has been a team member here at Sackville Dental Centre since 2007. Bev’s laugh can always be heard throughout the office as she converses with patients and her fellow staff members. She is grateful for the relationships she has formed with the long-time clients she has met over the years here at SDC. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time at her seasonal camper and with her family.
Janet, Recall Coordinator
As one of our newest members of our team, Janet comes to us with over 10 years experience working as an orthodontic receptionist. She is excited to have started this new chapter in general dentistry. In her spare time, Janet enjoys making memories with her beautiful young family of three.
Karen, Treatment Coordinator
Karen is one of the first smiling faces who you will see entering our office. Being part of the Sackville Dental team for over 30 years, Karen helps keep our front desk running smoothly and efficiently. Originally from Bristol, England, Karen moved to Canada in 1981 and to Nova Scotia in 1987. She loves to spend quality time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Carrie, Office Manager
Carrie was born and raised in Cape Breton and achieved a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate in Human Resource Management, all from Saint Mary’s University. Carrie joined Sackville Dental Centre initially in January 2020 and again in April of 2023. If not at SDC, you can find her experimenting in the kitchen or enjoying the outdoors with her partner and fur babies.
Judy, Admin
As a 2021 graduate of the Medical and Dental Office Administration program at Maritime Business College, Judy, after the completion of her work placement here at the office, accepted a permanent position with us. As a vital member of the team, she feels fortunate to join such a close-knit group of phenomenal professionals and enjoys contributing to the welcoming atmosphere here at the clinic, while serving the community she has called home for the past 8 years. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing with her family and travelling to Southern destinations where the weather is hot! She looks forward to meeting all the loyal, long-term patients and new alike!
